Nature has been a big master for furniture designers. We have in the past seen a chair shaped like a leaf, now here is the Cicada Chair by Mitya Belkin that draws inspiration from an insect, and you should have guessed the name. It is a 3D-printed chair with a uniquely patterned back.

The design team has configured Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create a chair with a back featuring patterns inspired by the wings of Cicadas. With AI-powered algorithm, they have created a variety of designs that could combine natural aesthetics and personalized ergonomics.

Developed in collaboration with Nikita Shipov, the Cicada chair is made using SLS printing techniques. The chair shows how 3D printing can be used to create a world of unique, eco-friendly objects that fit any purpose.
