I am jealous of Bryce Langston of Living Big in a Tiny House and I have every right to be envious. The man literally lives my dream life, travels from place to place, meets new people, and explores every single tiny house he passes by. The latest tiny house he happens to have visited belongs to a couple Shani and Christian hailing from Australia. The couple initially hired a professional tiny house builder but ended up finishing the project by themselves.

The tiny house boasts an ultra-clever design and features a pop-top roof which provides additional space in the sleeping loft. The pop-top roof gives the home lots of space in the loft and one needs not necessarily crawl into the space. It’s one of those rare lofts, where one can actually stand. Featuring a double bed, the pop-up works when one unbolts it from the inside. As soon as it’s free, the rear flips up.

Measuring 17x8x30 feet, the tiny house is higher than any other normal tiny house you’d come across. Finished in black metal that is matched with the Shou Sugi Ban cedar cladding on the exterior, Shani and Christian’s tiny house exhibits a monochromatic appearance. The interior of the house flaunts a fantastic timber green mid-century look which sets this home in a class of its own. You’d be surprised to know there isn’t a tinge of white color inside the house. The couple has kept the interior style rustic.

As you walk inside you are graced with a raised lounge area, which is a pretty new concept but nailed to perfection. Dare not miss the brilliantly designed home office which hides away in the lounge area. There are pull-out desks and storage space for smoothly hiding other equipment. These features provide the couple with an option to work from the tiny home.

In addition, there is also a little round coffee table in the center of the lounge area. The whole space is transformable as the table can even be moved out of the way and replaced with a dining table. A wood stove at one side of the wall will keeps the residents warm throughout.

The kitchen is on the opposite side of the lounge area and features every essential for living. Wide windows are my favorite part of the spot as plenty of glazing allows natural light to pass in and provide the most incredible vistas into the outdoors. This tiny house is completely off the grid, with an impressive solar array and rainwater collection. There is also a 10,000-liter tank to collect the rainwater.
