Storage-Friendly Pine Needle Tiny House Features Dog Crate Under Kitchen Island

Downsizing materialism and upsizing the quality of life

About 14 months ago, I interviewed D’Arcy McNaughton, the CEO of Acorn Tiny Homes. Back then, the Canada-based outlet was new to the tiny home-building scene and envisioned bringing the beauty of modern architecture into tiny dwelling design. I’ve been curious about the progress and kept a keen eye on the tiny homemaker. I am happy to announce it succeeded in the endeavor.

Acorn Tiny Homes has been making stunning micro dwellings and today, I present the Pine Needle tiny house that D’Arcy and his team created for their client and her dog. Measuring 32 feet long, the tiny house is the epitome of downsizing materialism and upsizing the quality of life. Finished in standing seam steel and Shou Sugi wood exterior, the tiny house offers 384 square feet of total space.

The interior of the tiny house would leave you flabbergasted. The textured wood grain floor paired with the white walls and the sage green cabinetry create a sensuous color palette.

Built on a triple-axle trailer, it is one of the most functional custom-home tiny houses that cater to both man and animal. A supreme example of this is D’Arcy integrating elements directly into the furniture; for instance, the island kitchen built around the dog crate. Built underneath the kitchen’s bar top surface, the dog crate is a perfect place for the furry friend to rest and relax.

The kitchen features a dual sink, dishwasher, propane stove, in-drawer dishwasher, and a full-size refrigerator. There is plenty of counter space and a bar-height dining area on the island.

Next to the kitchen is the raised living room which can be accessed by built-in storage stairs. The living room reminds me of Elise tiny house by Vagabond Haven, which boasted the same feature. Spacious and cozy, the living room features a chair and sofa and also has a window that allows natural light to pass in.

Harking back to the design philosophy of its precious model Domek, Acorn has added a small extension towards the tow bar. It is the space where the bathroom is placed. The bathroom is clad with custom features, especially the vanity placed in the bump-out space. “A bump-out vanity was included to open the bathroom up, giving additional space for movement and comfort,” Acorn Tiny Homes mentions.

Above the bathroom lies a loft bedroom that can be accessed via a storage-integrating staircase. Featuring a queen-size bed, the loft area also has ample storage sections. Since the Pine Needle tiny house is magnificently awesome, no doubt it’s priced at $134,300.
