Beijing-based architecture studio Crossboundaries has taken the art of building and designing tiny homes to the next level by transforming a motorboat into unconventional tiny house on water. Floating on scintillating water in Germany, Berlin, the owner of this floating tiny home named it ‘Fang Song.’ It is powered by solar panels on the roof and two more on the side of the boat, making it possible on sunny days to cover an average distance of 50 kilometers/day.

It is a typical motorboat on the outside with a deck lounge area that offers a splendid view of the surroundings. Inside, it reveals multi-functional layout to maximize the living space and challenges the orthodox way of living. Measuring 49 feet long and 13 feet wide, the boat offers an exceptional indoor-outdoor connectivity with giant windows and somewhat an open-floor layout. Offering 667 square feet of living space, the interior is bright and vibrant draped in yellow and red colors throughout.

First, there is a spacious living room by the entrance that opens onto the deck and doubles as the main bedroom. The Murphy bed is pulled out from the wall and the sofa is lowered underneath it. A sliding door behind the hidden bed unit ensures privacy. The living room accommodates a pellet stove in one corner with renewable wood pellet stored beneath the flooring and is controlled by an app. It also has cabinets and a foldable desk in the other corner that doubles as a spacious shelving unit and a workspace.

Right in the middle of the living room, there is a panel in the floor that hides a bike storage. Adjacent is a beautiful, sun-draped bathroom, with yellow tiles on the floor that gleam under the sun. It features a sink, a shower, and a toilet.

Moving on from the bathroom, there is a spacious room featuring a hidden bed that covers the technical aspects of the helm. Not just it, the bed is further integrated with a foldable table that doubles as a dinette or a cozy work-from-home space.

The kitchen is in the same space. It is equipped with moody red cabinets, drawers, and a calming yellow countertop with a sink. Besides, there are appliances such as a cooktop and a microwave.

Solar panels and large battery storage that boost up the engines, home appliances, and other technical needs, making the Floating Tiny Home sustainable and energy-efficient. It is beautiful with practical spaces that support a flexible way of living on water.
