Morena Tiny House With Rustic Charm is Appealing to Sensibilities of Modern Woman

Madeiguincho’s latest micro-dwelling flaunts shou sugi ban exterior

Portuguese builder Madeiguincho has carved a space for itself in the global tiny house movement with its distinguished wooden micro-dwellings. Each tiny house or any other residential structure made by the company for that matter dons a chic natural wooden construction inside and out. One thing that I adore about Madeihuincho micro-dwellings is the second door in the bathroom that allows a mudroom-style convenience and the slatted shower floor.

The latest to join the gaggle of Madeiguincho’s impressive tiny houses is the Morena. The Morena tiny house on wheels is custom-made for a client who wanted it to be a tranquil retreat in her land with her dog. The design and intent of the micro-dwelling is incredibly appealing to me, a modern woman who wants to live freely, move freely, embracing peace.

The dwelling sits stark against the natural landscape with its shou sugi ban exterior. The sloping roof is ideal for outfitting it with solar panels in the future to forgo dependency on the grid. While the exterior flaunts the burnt wood aesthetic, the interior exudes a rustic cabin charm. There are multiple windows, including a porthole window in the living room, which lends a whimsical touch.

The double wood doors open into the living area, where a built-in daybed doubles as an additional sleeping station. I can see the dweller sitting here, gazing out at the natural beauty, and sipping coffee. Simply luxurious! The integrated storage adds to the functionality. Additional bedding and seasonal items can be stored here in an orderly manner.

A fold-down table is adjacent, serving as a workspace or dining table. A built-in bench is next to the table, offering more seating. Opposite it is a wood-burning fireplace.

The kitchen is designed to be sleek, minimalistic, and practical. It is one of the most charming cooking spaces I have seen in a tiny house. There is an integrated cooktop, wooden countertops, a long awning window, multiple cabinets under the counter, a sink, and shelves displaying spices and other staples.

Facing the cooking area is a storage-integrated staircase with cabinets. The wooden staircase has a slatted railing that continues up to the loft bedroom. The loft bedroom doesn’t have much going on for it. It has a mattress, as the low ceiling doesn’t allow a bed, two windows, and a small cubby.

The bathroom of the Morena tiny house is below the loft and past the kitchen. Madeiguincho bathrooms have always been my favorite part of the design. There is something so soothing and subtle about them that they don’t make you feel like you are in a compact space. It has your regular toilet, sink, and shower.

The slatted shower floor is brilliant, letting the water run right through and keeping the wooden construction healthy. The mud-room-style setup is good and can be expanded with the addition of an outdoor shower.

If I were ever to get Madeiguincho to build me a tiny house, this is it. I would want the design of Morena tiny house, exactly the same. It speaks to the sensibilities of a modern single woman who wishes to live her life without interruptions from the world. Just her, with her thoughts and passions, living life to her fullest.
