Tired of the hassle of campfires and gas stoves? Detroit-based startup Lectric Boil has launched Overlander portable induction stove with a removable battery that will let you cook outdoors without any wildfire issues. Built for off-grid cooking, it runs without hookups and can also be powered by your vehicle or solar panels. The use of induction technology ensures greater energy efficiency and safety, making it a great solution for modern car camping.

The Overlander comes with a windshield and a removable battery integrated into a folding case that also includes a chopping board. Its 1kWh lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery delivers ample power for cooking. Since each unit runs independently without needing an electrical socket, you can easily prepare meals or brew coffee even when far from your RV or vehicle.

The Overlander induction cooker features two burners to cook food or prepare coffee on the go. Each burner offers up to 1200W, with the 10-inch burner reaching 1800W in boost mode. The smaller 6-inch burner runs at 1200W, or 600W if the main burner is boosted. According to Lectric Boil, it can cook for over an hour on full boil or 2-3 hours on medium heat. The five power levels can be easily adjusted through onboard control knobs.

The Overlander can boil up to 36 cups of water on a single charge. You can then recharge it through solar panels, a 110V outlet, or a 12V car plug. Charging takes about one hour from a 120V outlet, five hours from a 400W solar setup, and 10 hours from a 12V DC source or USB-C. It also includes built-in USB and 110V outlets for powering or charging devices like phones and laptops.

This portable battery-powered induction cooktop measures 17 x 20 x 5 inches (430 x 500 x 120 mm) when packed and weighs 35 lbs. (15.9 kg), making it reasonably portable. It offers a much safer cooking option for campers heading to wildfire-prone areas. The Overlander battery-powered induction cooktop can be pre-booked now for $99, with an estimated retail price of around $1,500.
