Among all the tiny houses we have featured on Homecrux, the mobile homes coming from New Zealand tend to be more organized than those in Australia and North America. Be it Shaye’s Tiny Homes, Ruru Tiny Homes, or Build Tiny, most of these makers have emphasized possibility over compromise, making the most of every square foot available. The Old Man Pine tiny house, one of the flagship designs from New Zealand-based Tiny Timber Homes, is built with exactly that philosophy in mind.
The name itself carries a certain weight. Old Man Pine is a common name for the ponderosa pine, a tree known for its longevity and thick, deeply furrowed bark. Whether the choice is deliberate or incidental, it suits a house that feels rooted rather than temporary. Measuring 32 feet long and 9.5 feet wide, the tiny house sits on a double-axle trailer. The exterior pairs wood and metal cladding for a clean, contemporary finish.
Visitors enter the interior through a double-glazed door, which opens directly into the living room. The space is furnished with a sofa and an ottoman, with enough room to move comfortably. Other features include a fireplace, which adds warmth and serves as the natural centrepiece.
Adjacent to the living room is the kitchen, which is well-equipped with full-size appliances, including an oven, a four-burner cooktop, and a refrigerator. Other standard features include a sink and an extendable dining table. Not to mention a generous run of cabinetry that rounds out the space, keeping storage well within reach.
The biggest USP of the Old Man Pine tiny house is its three bedrooms. Thoughtfully designed, the bedroom sleeps five to six people. Two of the bedrooms are located in the loft, accessed via a storage-integrated staircase, while the third sits on the ground floor. Each bedroom comfortably sleeps two.
One of the loft bedrooms doubles as a flexible space that can be configured as a home office or studio, depending on the occupants’ needs. The other bedroom, meanwhile, is a dedicated space for the kids. Each bedroom is also outfitted with shelving, adding further storage without sacrificing comfort.

One impressive aspect of the tiny house is its storage. Be it any of the bedrooms, kitchen, or bathroom, there is no shortage of space, courtesy of multiple cabinets that the makers have outfitted the home with.
The bathroom, located elsewhere on the ground floor, includes a glass-enclosed shower, toilet, and vanity. The tiny house draws power via a standard RV-style hookup. For those seeking a well-considered home without the complexity of managing a custom build, this is a practical and appealing option. We are not familiar with the price of the dwelling, but estimate it to cost well above $60K.
