American workspace furniture giant Herman Miller has announced the launch of the Coyl Gaming Desk, and while it may raise eyebrows, the brand is no stranger to designing gear for gamers. Herman Miller has long sold the Motia Gaming Sit-to-Stand Desk on its website and previously collaborated with Logitech on the Embody Gaming Chair, including a limited-edition artistic gaming chair collection with FAILE. Now, the brand is taking another decisive leap into the gaming space with the unveiling of the Coyl, which it describes as a “new stage for your biggest moments.”

First spotted by Wired and later detailed by Esquire, the Coyl is touted as the only sit-to-stand gaming desk built to Herman Miller Gaming’s performance standards. “Every material, every detail, and every adjustment mechanism is engineered to remove friction for effortless control and elevate performance between you and your best play,” the company states.

The biggest USP of the Coyl Gaming Desk is its rotary height-adjustment dial. As detailed in the company’s press release, “the dial is a round knob that lets you raise or lower the desk height with a simple turn, offering greater control and seamless adjustment to the gamer.” The Coyl also features a full-length, felt-lined cable tray equipped with magnetic tabs that open from both the front and back, ensuring seamless cable routing. “Designed for quiet storage and easy access, the tray keeps your setup clean without making cable management a chore,” the brand explains.

Another highlight of Coyl is its modularity. In addition to the dial and cable tray, the desk comes with an optional shroud alongside a metal pegboard that lets you configure exactly where to stash tools and cables. The desk also features hidden hooks for bags and headphones, keeping essentials within reach without cluttering the surface.

The Coyl Gaming Desk is currently available in four finishes. This includes black, white, ash, or walnut wood, with the leg color (black or white) automatically complementing whichever top you choose. Material-wise, the tabletop uses a laminate surface, the legs are powder-coated steel, the feet are stamped cold-rolled steel, and the panel is laser-cut perforated steel with a powder-coat finish. From a configuration standpoint, the desk measures 60 inches wide, 48.5 inches tall, and 30 inches deep, making it substantial but still workable for a standard room.

It is worth noting that Coyl is named after the bright red coiled power cable running along its back, the defining design feature that sets it apart visually from every other desk on the market. For now, the Coyl Gaming Desk is priced at $1,475. For those looking for more options, Herman Miller also offers add-on units like a phone stand, a planter, cable clips, and a display shelf for an additional $200.
