Updated 7.21.2022: Conrad Hotels & Resorts by Hilton has announced the official debut of The MURAKA luxury two-level residence with a master bedroom in November, 2018. It is now ready to open to the public. The pricing starts from $9,999.

The Maldives, famous for natural beauty including deep blue ocean and white beaches, will soon be welcoming the world’s first underwater villa at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. Aptly named “The MURAKA,” or coral in Dhivehi (Maldivian), this two-story luxury resort in a lagoon comprises of about 700-square-meter living space above the sea level and a 100-square-meter of an underwater hotel suite, both of which are connected through a spiral staircase. This one-of-a-kind, three-bedroom vacation retreat accommodates up to nine guests and offers them a unique opportunity to experience marine life of Indian Ocean.

Designed by the famous Japanese architect Yuji Yamazaki in association with local architect Ahmed Saleem and M J Murphy Ltd., the project will cost about US$15 million and will be completed by November 2018.  The MURAKA’s upper level features a twin-size bedroom, bathroom, gym, powder room, butler’s quarters, kitchen, bar, and dining; while undersea suite has a king-size bedroom, living area, bathroom and a spiral staircase connecting to the upper level.

Furthermore, there are two decks to enjoy outdoors – one on the upper level and another located on the opposite side of the villa complete with an infinity swimming pool. With more than 75-percent of its walls and ceilings made from reflective glass, The MURAKA underwater hotel is designed to offer uninterrupted views to the ocean. Those who wish to sleep under the sea; this hotel allows that luxury for a massive $50,000 per night.

Apparently, Conrad Hotel & Resorts is a part of the Hilton group who recently created a lot of buzz with its Alienware Room in Hotel Hilton Panama. Likewise, The MURAKA underwater hotel is also expected to create ripples with its spectacular offering.
