Anker’s sister brand, Soundcore, has introduced a new rugged outdoor Bluetooth speaker designed for beachgoers and water sports enthusiasts. Soundcore Boom 3i is a fully waterproof, dustproof, and most impressively, it floats while playing music. This makes it a perfect companion for beach outings or poolside gatherings with family and friends.
The Boom 3i boasts an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. It also comes with an extra protective coating that makes it five times more resistant to saltwater. According to Anker, the speaker can withstand up to two years of beach, boat, and seaside use without showing signs of corrosion.
The most impressive feature of the speaker is its ability to float on water while automatically adjusting its position to stay upright to deliver forward-facing sound. It can withstand submersion in up to 4.92 feet (1.5 meters) of water for 30 minutes and survive accidental drops from up to 3.28 feet (1 meter) onto concrete.
Equipped with a 3.7-inch 40W woofer and a 10W tweeter, the speaker delivers a powerful 50W output with a peak volume of 96 dB. The BassUp 2.0 feature doubles the bass, while you can tailor the sound with EQ settings via the companion app. It is rated to provide up to 16 hours of playback at moderate volume.
Both ends of the outdoor speaker are equipped with LED lights that can create a music-synced light show. You can choose from six rhythm-based presets, four ambient lighting modes, or personalize the colors to match your mood using the mobile app.

Additional highlighting features are TWS pairing to connect two Boom 3i speakers for stereo sound, a Voice Amplifier mode to broadcast a message, an Emergency Alarm, and a convenient Buzz Clean function that helps shake off dust with vibration.
The Soundcore Boom 3i portable speaker, measuring just 8.27 x 3.35 x 3.09 inches, is compact enough to hold in your hands; however, it also includes a detachable strap for added convenience. It is currently listed for $190 through Soundcore’s Canadian website or for $150 on Amazon Canada.
