French designer Bernard Govin has been working with Ligne Roset since the 1960s. His design style features curved and fluid forms with futuristic aesthetics. The Asmara modular sofa is one of his famous creations for Ligne Roset, distinguished by uniquely shaped modules that can be arranged in different ways.

This vintage 1967 sofa comprises five different modules: convex, concave, small backrest, large backrest, semicircular table. Each module has its dedicated place and usage in the composition. They fit together in different ways, allowing users to adjust the comfort individually.

The most common composition consists of 2 convex elements, 6 concave elements, 3 small folders, and 1 large folder. The inspiration behind the Asmara modular sofa was to allow more than one person to sit in their preferred positions yet be alongside on the same sofa.

Ligne Roset presented the Asmara modular sofa at IMM Cologne and Maison&Objet this year. There will be more product launches on the occasion of its 160th anniversary.
