Great news for cartoon fans! The world’s first Cartoon Network Hotel will soon be opening in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The nine-acre property has no shortage of fun for fans with 159 character-theme guest suites. This fun-filled hotel is situated near two familiar landmarks, Dutch Wonderland and Tanger Outlets Lancaster. It’ll be hard to miss from the highway as a large cartoon character from the network’s “Adventure Time” is sitting on top of the roof.
The Cartoon Network has partnered with Dutch Wonderland’s owner Palace Entertainment to accomplish this project. Earlier a Continental Inn built in 1971, the hotel has been refashioned into a colorful building with cartoon drawings on the bright colored walls.
On entering the front door, you’ll feel as if you have stepped into the amazing world of cartoon characters. There are large staircases and cartoons all around. Toward the right, there is the hotel’s gift shop where you can get figurines, hats, bags, mugs, socks and other merchandise. On the other side of the lobby is the Cartoon kitchen that serves food from cartoon network shows. Adding to the fun, there is a café and arcade as well. There is even a Kids’ Kitchen where culinary and craft classes will be provided.
Rooms are themed around six popular shows: The Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time, Ben 10, Powerpuff Girls, Steven Universe, and We Bare Bears. Each room has a piece of canvas art related to the show and cartoon-themed pillows and bedding. The televisions in the room will play exclusive Cartoon Network channels.
The hotel will include a resort-style pool, water play zone, outdoor amphitheater with an oversized screen, an indoor pool, game room, and play areas such as Toon Room Play and Ben 10 Omnicade. The arcade has traditional games like Skeeball and will be open 24 hours a day. Near the arcade, there are virtual reality pods too.
The building with heated indoor pool, which will be open all year round, also features an activity room, hot tub and kiddie pool. A Powerpuff Girls “Splashville” splash pad is located near the outdoor pool and features a hot tub.
The Cartoon Kitchen will be open all day and serve pancakes, sausages, breakfast party pizza, Jake’s ultimate cheesy nachos, crunchy ramen taco salad, Fox’s chicken pot pie and Lady Rainicorn’s sweet, colorful desserts.
The Bearista Café will serve coffee, tea, speciality drinks, sandwiches and snacks from 6 am till midnight. There is a small bar for adults as well. Land of P’Oool Concession Stand, which will be near the outdoor pool, will serve multiple snacks and drinks during summers. The hotel will also celebrate holidays and host birthday parties.
The Cartoon Network Hotel is accepting bookings for its June 2020 opening. Rates will vary according to the season, the regular rooms will be available from $169 to $289 whereas dream suites will cost about $459. To attract the locals, the hotel is offering a 25 percent discount to those in Lancaster County.
