There are two kinds of people in this world; those who are dog lovers and those who are not. Irrespective of which side of the spectrum you are, one can’t possibly ignore this cute robotic pooch presented at CES 2023 by tech toymaker WowWee. Whether you want a playdate for your furry friend or want to enjoy the perks of having a dog in case you are allergic to canines, this robot dog can be helpful.

The app-connected robot dog dubbed MINTiD Dog-E produces over 200 sounds and communicates via its tail. The company mentions, “There are million possible combinations of colorful lights, sounds, and personality traits.”

When I talk of 200 sounds and personality traits, it’s not just the woofs and yaps of one breed but the sounds that different dog breeds produce. For instance, if you want a German shepherd, it will bark like one; if you want something like Chihuahua, it will sound like one and even run toward you at a better pace than a Mastiff. All this is possible courtesy of a built-in microphone and speaker.

The Dog-E can use its tail to display emotes, icons, and messages. This will help you decipher when your robotic pet is hungry, in a playful mode, or just wants love. The robotic dog is compatible with a mobile app that tells you what kind of dog you have. The core body of the robotic dog would remain the same but its personality would differ.

With the Dog-E companion app, you can set your individual profile while your partner or family members can have their own individual profiles in a single Dog-E. “Each member of the family can have a Dog-E profile with its own unique look and personality, which they can seamlessly switch between each person using the app,” tells the company.

The company also touts that attributes like the tongue will be customized. The Dog-E will run to you whenever you call its name and even shower you with kisses, and a tongue would pop out of its head and lick your face just like a real-life dog. The Dog-E even reacts to sound and touch, and wiggles its tail. Thanks to six touch sensors incorporated inside its all-white body, the dog detects and responds to stimuli.

Another highlight of the Dog-E is its shining 12 LED lights, which keep the atmosphere glowing as ever. Powered by lithium-ion, rechargeable battery, the ‘One-in-A-Million Dog-E’ has a unique eye shape and features a combination of colorful lights, sounds, and personality. The best part is that you don’t have to clean up after it or worry about vet charges.

In a nutshell, it’s a gadget that plays with you, talks to you (woofs and yaps), and is adorably cute. Whether you want to spend $80 to bring this robotic dog to your home is your choice. Just be cautious when you choose, because I have seen a lot more robotic dogs in the market that can summersault, kiss, and lick and are way cheaper than what WowWee offers.

But, I won’t deny that Dog-E is a groundbreaking innovation, and could potentially revolutionize the kid tech toy industry. As per reports, Dog-E is hitting the market in the fall of 2023.
