Samsung and LG have been top players with AI-powered refrigerators to help in meal planning based on available ingredients. US-based premium home appliance brand GE Profile has joined the bandwagon with the launch of its new 27.9 Cu. Ft. Smart 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator with Kitchen Assistant ahead of the CES 2026. It uses AI to track inventory and suggest recipes to automate the process of making daily meal decisions and grocery.
Apart from serving its primary purpose, this AI-powered appliance serves as a smart hub to help you in grocery shopping, streamlining meal planning, and reducing food waste. The fridge is equipped with an interactive 8-inch touchscreen that serves as a kitchen command center. It can be used to set custom screen backgrounds, get weather updates, and more.
It is quite difficult to remember products needed by all members of a household, and this is where GE Profile’s new Smart Refrigerator comes into play. This fridge comes with a built-in Scan-to-List barcode scanner that helps you track groceries for the whole household. The scanner is capable of recognizing more than four million products. You simply need to scan any grocery or household item running low, and the fridge automatically adds it, complete with brand, flavor, and size, to a digital grocery list in the SmartHQ app. This shared list can be used while shopping in the store or synced directly to Instacart for fast delivery. The non-barcode items can also be added to the shopping list via voice or text commands.
Another standout feature is the FridgeFocus, a camera system that provides real-time snapshots of crisper drawers and interior shelves to help you keep a check on inventory remotely while shopping. It prevents you from overbuying perishables and reminds you of the available fridge contents to reduce food waste, as well as, save on money and time. For privacy purposes, you can even turn off the camera in the app or slide a physical shutter.

The GE Profile smart fridge also lets you explore more than 50 curated recipes from trusted partners like Taste of Home. You can save your favorites in a personal vault or add missing ingredients directly to the shoppable list. There is even an option to use voice commands to add items to a shopping list, manage meal planning, and handle queries like unit conversions or product information hands-free.
The fridge water dispenser has built-in sensors that release the exact amount of filtered water you want. You can give it a command to fill water and walk away while your bottle fills up. Ask the fridge to dispense a specific volume of water, such as 8 ounces or 2 cups, and after filling the exact amount of water, the machine will stop automatically. Other features to highlight are the door-in-door storage, adjustable temperature drawer, LED light wall, and built-in Wi-Fi.
The GE Smart 4-Door French-Door Refrigerator with Kitchen Assistant is available in fingerprint-resistant stainless steel that looks quite premium in its pictures. If you wish to buy one, it will be available in standard-depth and counter-depth versions, starting in April 2026 for a price tag of $4,899.
