The search engine giant Google has revealed its new Nest Mini smart speaker at the company’s Made By Google 2019 event held yesterday. It is the second generation Google Home Mini with upgraded sound quality and voice assistant. By the way, it has all the features of the older version.
The Google Nest Mini is claimed to offer twice the bass of the original Google Home Mini (measured from 60-100 Hz at max volume). You can connect Google Nest Mini to other Nest speakers or display to create a sound system. The ability to hear voice commands in a noisy environment is also enhanced in the new variant.
There are built LED lights that light up as you move your hand close to the device, indicating the spot to adjust volume. The volume of Google Assistant, news and podcasts is adjusted dynamically so that you can hear its response even in a noisy environment.
Furthermore, the new Google Duo functionality allows calling your devices from Google Home app and also using the intercom feature. Another new feature is stream transfer technology that allows you to transfer music from one speaker to another with voice commands.
Being a smart speaker, the Google Nest Mini also allows controlling compatible smart home devices as well as set up reminders and routines for you. Wall mounting capabilities provide users a new way to incorporate the device into their homes.
Nest Mini has the same fabric design as the original Mini. Interestingly, the fabric covering is made from 100-percent post-consumer recycled plastic bottles.
Available in four colors: Chalk, Charcoal, Coral and a new Sky color, you can pre-order it for $49 from the Google Store. It will be available in different online stores, including Best Buy, Target, and Walmart after 22 October.
