The search for alternative materials in the design sector is never-ending, but coming up with never-before-used combinations is also a great way to do something new. The new faucet from the Ordito collection by Italy-based company Guglielmi Rubinetterie is a great example of this perspective. It blends stainless steel components with yarn in a balanced manner. The design achieves a tactile character, enriched by the subtle tones of the yarn.
The Ordito collection references the age-old concept of covering or wrapping something hard or rigid to make it feel warm. It is for the first time in the faucet industry that the spout of a mixer is covered with a pure, uncoated fabric.
This special yarn is made from original recycled polypropylene to intentionally showcase its natural texture, softness, and unique qualities. The stainless steel just serves as the supporting structure, while the yarn becomes the main face that will be touched during use.
Being the main material in the design, yarn is woven over the steel structure using traditional weaving techniques from Valsesia in Italy, where the company originated. This results in an unexpected balance between different materials, rewriting the material hierarchies of the bathroom environment. The Ordito faucet combines recycled material linked to the sea with mountain-based weaving traditions, bringing together two different worlds in one design.
The yarn is 100 percent recyclable, Oeko-Tex Class 1 certified, water-repellent, stain-resistant, soft to the touch, and resistant to UV rays, wind, rain, and mechanical stress. Additionally, it does not absorb water, dries quickly, and is resistant to mold and bacteria. These technical qualities of the material make it perfect for bathroom use.

The yarn is available in the Arizona, Oasi, and Tundra variants that evoke the spirit of open landscapes. These yarn color palettes can be paired with different metal finishes, including stainless steel, brushed light gold PVD, brushed black nickel PVD, brushed copper PVD, and natural brass to create the desired look.
The Ordito faucet collection is available in single-handle and three-hole versions, in two different heights, with a progressive cartridge. The collection also includes a range of accessories, including wheeled side tables and towel racks featuring the same materials and finishes.
