Lua Smart Planter Indicates if it Needs Water or Sunlight with Animated Emotions

Vivien Muller of Luxembourg-based Mu Design who previously crowdfunded the Ulo owl-shaped interactive home monitoring system has come up with Lua smart planter that can show 15 different emotions on an onboard LCD display.

A multitude of smart indoor planters are available in the market, but if want a cute, tiny tabletop planter that can talk to you through emotions, this one is for you.

With built-in sensors, Lua smart planter measures soil’s moisture, light exposure, and temperature. It keeps you informed about the plant’s health with animated emotions. There are six animations to display your plant’s health and nine others to react on different occasions.

The planter reacts when it needs water or sunlight, and it even senses rain. Less exposure to sunlight will turn it into a vampire, while it displays a cheerful face when it’s content. Ideally, it remains in sleep mode but as soon as it detects movement near it, it follows you with its eyes. Just if it had the legs, it would be a perfect planter you could pet.

Lua operates through a companion mobile app. You select the type of plant, customize settings and feed it to the planter through a barcode. After which, it monitors the plants and keeps you updated with its animations emotions.
