Mariah Carey has listed her glamorous Manhattan penthouse, located at 90 Franklin Street, New York City, for a $27 million asking price. The striking combination of timeless Hollywood pop glamour and visually captivating interior décor aesthetics transforms the Mariah Carey Tribeca penthouse into a rare triplex sanctuary. It also featured in the MTV Cribs episode, where she gave a tour of her newly finished triplex.

The iconic singer, known for the holiday song All I Want for Christmas is You, acquired the unfinished penthouse consisting of three floors for $9 million in 1999. She then subsequently hired the famed interior designer, Mario Buatta, known as the Prince of Chintz, to meticulously transform the palatial space into a masterpiece.

The Mariah Carey Tribeca penthouse roughly covers a 13,700 square foot area in total. It includes a 1,100 square feet rooftop terrace and 12,700 square feet of interior space that includes eight bedrooms, a powder room, and seven full bathrooms. The lavish triplex crowns the high-end luxury Franklin Tower that once served as Corn Exchange Bank.

The Franklin Tower has a stunning Art Deco masonry façade, flaunting its ornate brickwork and Gothic accents. The recessed bay windows and brick piers make the building appear streamlined and taller, a key feature of its heritage. Thanks to the old era setback architecture of this tower, the expansive area on the rooftop became a private outdoor terrace.

The outdoor terrace offers 360-degree panoramic views of the entire Manhattan skyline and the Hudson River. The mirrored arches add a unique design element to the terrace, reflecting the sky views and making the area feel more spacious. The Moroccan-themed sunroom, located right next to the terrace, adds an exotic vibe to the space. It includes a gym, a wet bar, an indoor-outdoor fireplace, and multiple seating arrangements.

Once you enter the iconic triplex penthouse, its designer interior with intricate detailing reflects the superior craftsmanship of Mario Buatta. He adorned the interior with gorgeous butterfly motifs, silver leaf doors, and added a high-gloss peach lacquer finish on the walls. This finish imparted an eye-catching sheen to the walls that reflect the light and brighten up the living space.

The polished, bronze-inlaid limestone floors complement the shiny walls, and their soft patina adds old-world charm to the space. The palm frond chandelier in the entrance hall further enhances the shimmery effect with its centerpiece appeal. The living area of the penthouse features a white baby grand piano, which was once owned by Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe.

The oversized windows frame the city skyline and offer glimpses of the Empire State Building. The Mermaid room in the triplex is another unique feature. Designed to feel like a theatre under the sea, its aqua-themed walls and sand couch mimic the beautiful ocean floor.

The massive 12,700 square feet penthouse is the only generously expansive triplex that you’ll find in Manhattan. The butterfly motifs on the tiles and handles serve as Mariah’s personal signature, keeping her presence felt throughout the home.

The Mariah Carey Tribeca penthouse sale offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy your dream house. The rare triplex is listed for $27 million with Core Real Estate agents Emily Beare or Lexi Alper. If you can fork up that much money, you get to live in Mariah Carey’s home.
