Recently, first lady Melania Trump posted a video on Twitter to show how the White House is decorated this holiday season. Mrs. Trump & co. have, this year, ditched the traditional green trees for huge crimson red Christmas trees. Melania tweeted,

The People’s House @WhiteHouse is ready to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season! pic.twitter.com/oejKW3mC15

While the first lady seems satisfied and happy with the extraordinary red Christmas trees, Twitterati blasted her for the White House Christmas decoration theme.

Some users went on the write that these trees were inspired by Handmaid’s Tale – Hulu’s dystopian drama about a society that subjugates women.

Not just that, the red Christmas trees were also compared to brushes and iconic blood waves in Stephen King’s The Shining. Read below for some astounding reactions from Twitter –

According to some psychologists, these are jarring to people since they don’t connect humans with nature. Usually, Christmas trees are in green color which is natural. But Melania Trump’s Christmas decorations is not something people can relate to.

Well, this is the second year in a row the first lady has been blasted for her White House Christmas decorations. Last year, she was criticized for holiday decorations that seemed more appropriate for Halloween than Christmas, Inside Edition noted.

Defending her Christmas trees this year, Melania Trump said, “We are in the 21st century and everybody has a different taste. I think they look fantastic.” Do you agree with her?
