This a sweet and simple story of Cat, a mother who built a dream home for her and her daughter after losing their Brisbane apartment. This tiny house is an epitome of living a quality life with simplicity. Situated in the beautiful Queensland countryside, she has cultivated a space that liberates her and her family, surrounded by lush greenery where they get to witness the nature flourishing and wild animals hopping around. Measuring 27 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 14 feet high, this house is where she lives a happy life with her daughter and her dog.
She has the exterior in eucalyptus cladding with timber feature that blends seamlessly with nature. She has designed it to be nature-oriented with big windows facing the outdoors to let them rejoice the vistas in full bloom. Although not entirely off-grid yet, her house has a rainwater collection system that comes handy in the times of need and a composting toilet. The kitchen garden, trees, outdoor sitting area, and a fire pit add so much warmth to the outdoors.
The interior of Cat’s tiny house is spacious. It is sunny and beautiful with feature elements like frames, a vintage clock above the kitchen, low hanging lights, a walkway with glass railing, high ceiling, and louvers in the loft, adding a sense of openness. She intentionally designed it so she wouldn’t “feel boxed in.”
The front door opens into the living area that greets us with a comfy storage-integrated sofa with drawers to store Remy’s (the daughter) toys and clothes. The sofa becomes a single bed when needed. There is a quirky shoe storage in form of a metal cage basket with a solid wood top acting as a side table. Perfectly designed with so much details, the space looks out to the outdoors. The mother-daughter duo spends a lot of time in this space reading books and watching movies on a projector screen.
Adjacent is the L-shaped kitchen that takes much of the ground floor space. It is spacious and full-size with a sink and a countertop that extends into an immersive breakfast bar next to a big window and doubles as a workspace for Cat. There is a myriad of storage with large pantry, green cabinetries, and drawers effortlessly off-setting the white background. The space-efficient kitchen has no hanging shelves and everything is stored in the bottom part making it more accessible and commodious.
For the appliances, there is a microwave, a refrigerator, and a cooktop. The windows and the plants in the kitchen incorporate it with so much life and vitality and make it more homely. It is also child-friendly, which means her daughter gets to help her with the cooking without bumping into each other.
The tiny house has a bathroom with a shower enclosed with the curtains, a vanity sink with a cabinet for keeping all the bathroom essentials in one place, a washer-dryer combo, and a composting toilet. There is a lot of space to move around and she has added some green to the space making it more impressive. There is a hook in the bathroom, keeping her guitar in place until inspiration hits her.

Coming out of the bathroom, you reach the bedroom lofts by taking the stairs. On the right side, there is Remy’s room with a mattress and plenty of space for her toys. In her bedroom, she has plenty of space to move around and be playful. For safety, her room is covered by louvers that allows her to stay connected with her mother, while ensuring privacy. The room has a huge wardrobe space for her clothes. It is bright, beautiful, and engaging for her daughter to play and be creative.
Second loft is a cozy bedroom for Cat. Having a generous space for a queen-size bed, it is illuminated with picturesque windows, providing with an amazing view of the outdoors. Her room is clutter free, thanks to the spacious wardrobe and shelves that she has integrated into the room. Her room is secured by louvers as well. For the privacy, it is enclosed by a door. Both the rooms are connected through a walkway protected by a glass railing.
