Spanish company Roca, founded in 1917 by the late Ryu Ohtake, specializes in bathroom products that exude timeless beauty. Now, run by Ohtake’s son, designer and architect Rodrigo Ohtake, Roca has expanded Ryu’s iconic Ohtake collection by adding to it new basins and bathtubs inspired by nature and tradition. One of the standout designs from the collection is the bathtub made from the company’s patented Stonex material, drawing inspiration from the Japanese ofuro bathing, offering comfort and an enhanced experience.
Based in Brazil, Rodrigo has been treading in his father’s footsteps and nurturing his connection with nature and finding inspiration from the Brazilian landscape. Keeping his father’s legacy alive, each bathroom piece is elemental and sculptural in form and structure. He has one vision: to enrich everyday user experience, even for a brief period.
Inviting and engaging, Rodrigo has mirrored the sinuous curves of his father’s bathroom pieces and crafted these latest Ohtake basins, gentle and lighter in form. Inspired by nature, these two basins take the design cue from the tender and curvy silhouettes of the calla lily flower. For these basins, he worked with hand-sculpted models, making each piece timeless and modern. The basins are available in refined pallets of white, matt white, matt black, onyx, coffee, beige, and a terracotta finish.

Keeping up with the philosophy, Rodrigo infused his ancestral and traditional roots in this deep and curvaceous soaking bathtub. Dubbed Furo soaking tub, it is designed to create a Zen and relaxing space for the users. Made from Roca’s patented Stonex material, the bathtub features a built-in seat for a meditative gesture, along with clean lines, flowy forms for an added visual interest. Other accessories include a multifunctional step, doubling as a stool. The basic idea behind this bathtub is to make people experience the essence of traditional Japanese ofuro bathing.
The designs in the collection are tranquil, infused with the elements of nature. Bold lines and daring forms come together to conceive the Ohtake collection. Celebrating nature and its elements, the entire collection is a fusion of artistic vision and organic forms found in nature.
