Plants have become an integral part of indoor life (especially in the ongoing pandemic). There are different kinds of planters available in the market, however, its design has remained nearly unchanged. Designers have over time largely played with colors and materials and the real functionality of the planter is yet to be explored. Poland-based KABO & PYDO design studio has made a significant effort and come up with OXY flowerpot for OPEKO that surpasses the requisite values for a new product design.

The planter pot not just focuses on the appearance but also covers the functionality. Its innovative two-layer design avoids over-wetting caused by excess water while also allows the roots to breathe. The unique planter comprises a rigid polypropylene exterior and a breathable felt liner which distributes water in the reservoir below to the plants when they need it. The excess water passes to a reservoir at the bottom of the pot.

The two layers allow the roots to breathe easily and drain away water from plants timely. The exterior layer of the pot is ribbed but it is strong enough to accommodate large and heavy plants. The free flow of air facilitates the growth of the plants. This breathable plant pot design is something new to try.

The OXY plant pots come in two sizes and different colors that match current interior design trends. This planter is the winner of Red Dot Design Award 2020 and has also been named in iF Design Award 2020.
