Surfing the internet this evening, I stumbled upon a Kickstarter project by a Hong Kong-based company Werobot. Established in January 2018, the company has designed the world’s first intelligent robot lamp, Pino Lamp, that automatically tracks faces and objects, and I couldn’t be much happier. This grin of mine has got a bit of a personal story behind it, so kindly bear with me.

A couple of months ago, I has a video interview with a designer but it didn’t come out as nice as I wanted it to be. The reason was bad lighting. I can’t pass the blame on the ceiling light or wall lighting of my room, because they did what they could. What I was missing was a lamp that could light my face during the video meeting. There is a multitude of lamps in the market that could help me achieve that endeavor but there wasn’t one that could auto-track my head movement while conducting the interview.

I was desperately searching for a lighting accessory that itself adjusts the lighting angle and keeps my face lit and that is exactly what Pino Lamp does. The lamp features three intelligent tracking modes: book tracking, face tracking, and color tracking.

The lamp automatically swivels to follow books, faces, or items of a given color. So, no matter what direction you move, the lamp will be chasing you. The lamp emits the right amount of light on the pages you’re reading or on the sheets where you’re writing. And, guess what? Reels for Instagram just got a whole lot brighter.

Pino Lamp functions via an application or touch-sensitive pad located on the back of the camera-equipped LED lamp. The lamp can pan up to 160 degrees and emit light on the face, book, or objects you select. The brightness of the lighting accessory can be adjusted to one of three color temperatures: warm, natural, or cold. Furthermore, the lamp comes in six different colors to meet your preferences and also blend in with your interior.

There is also an included smartphone holder which clamps onto the lamp’s neck to keep the lamp and the phone pointing in the same direction at all times, making it ideal for zoom calls and video meetings. In addition, it wirelessly charges your phone by placing it on the lamp base. Currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter, the Pino Lamp is available for $99 at a flash sale price. Early birds can get their lamp for $109.
