Since 2008, the Yorkshire-based design studio Pod Space is making versatile and eco-friendly spaces for home, work, and leisure pursuits. One of their most popular designs is the Glide pod that seamlessly fits into different environments and reflects a variety of different uses. With loads of brands bringing prefab backyard room concepts, the company has developed brand new designs for its Mini Pod, Glide Pod and Eco Pod in 2016. Knocking down numerous leading manufacturers and designers from around the world, this new Glide pod has been awarded the Red Dot Product Design award 2017.
In most cases, it can be placed by professional engineers in a garden without the need for planning permission. Its exteriors are clad in dark grey composite panels that need minimum maintenance. As of interior space, white walls and the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door makes it a cool livable space with numerous possibilities to use. The Glide pod features a modern sliding louvered screen to add privacy to your garden office. If you need additional shading then, there is an optional recessed blind that can be built discreetly into the pod. The entire structure of the Glide pod is insulated with eco-friendly products making it an extremely energy-efficient garden pod.
Moreover, this prefab backyard cabin can also be integrated with green energy sources to save money on electric bills. The modular garden cabin comes with digitally-controlled under-floor heating, zinc-coated guttering and drain pipe to get way out rainwater. Aside from thermal insulation, these bespoke residential pods offer impressive acoustic insulation making them ideal for study rooms, workspaces or yoga rooms.
If you remember the Muji prefab cabin, then it is a somewhat similar design. This prefab garden cabin can be used as a garden office, play room, an additional living space or an outdoor cabin. The Glide pod can be purchased for approx. £30, 840 (US$40,752) at Pod Space.
