It is always fascinating when designers go out of their way and break the conventional rules of their respective industry. Montreal-based creative director and designer Willo Perron has proven that creativity knows no bounds and there are no rules to it. With his unpredictable and bizarre creation, the Sausage sofa, he collaborated with Swedish fashion brand Our Legacy Work Shop, and the result is an eye-catching, languid, laid back, and structure-less sofa that can be manipulated in array of spatial configurations.

Launched at 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, the Sausage was presented by Spain-based furniture wholesaler BD Barcelona. Since its launch, it has become the talk of the town. It is bold yet playful; it is engulfing yet comfortable. It is not your quintessential sofa that features a strict form and shape with the traditional structure.

The Sausage Sofa has no structure and no form. It becomes a style statement that is easy to mold and manipulate according to the space. It borrows its long cylindrical shape from its eponymous meat. In a time when people are getting creative with their living space through elegant, lighthearted, and accessible designs, the Sausage caters to that need with an audacious and quirky design. It adds a touch of fun and play to any living space.

However, it is not suited for a commercial setting. Intended for informal spaces where people can gather around and have a good time, this sofa will offer a comfort somewhat similar to the beanbag chair. As Willo Perron himself mentioned, “The Sausage is not for formal conversation. It’s for freefalling and maybe getting high and losing yourself in the Sausage.”

It is evident that the sofa is versatile. Combined with this quality and designer’s fast-forward approach, it adapts to various informal and relaxed settings and blends in with a myriad of seating arrangements. You can use it as a fun playground for kids. But even adults can let their inner child break free and take a plunge in its embracing and engulfing formless design.

It is soft and supple, making it possible for users to mold it however they desire. Available in various upholstery such as beige cotton, orange corduroy, black leather, and beige corduroy, the limited-edition Sausage sofa is a unique concept that breaks the boundary of conventional seating and invites users for a renewed and refreshing experience.
