When the tiny house movement began in the ‘90s, the idea was to create something compact, functional, and affordable, but these structures weren’t big enough for growing families. Today’s tiny houses have evolved to provide room for everyone in the house without stepping on anyone’s toes. Australian builder Removed Tiny Homes has also taken to a family-friendly building approach, introducing a series of ‘Mansions on Wheels’ with extra width. After Onda and Solace, the Soma tiny house is the latest mansion on wheels in the company’s fleet.
The Soma tiny house measures 32.8 feet long, 11 feet wide, and 14.7 feet high, with three bedrooms in a bright, airy interior, easily accommodating six to eight people. The dark exterior flaunts board-batten and metal cladding, punctuated by two glass French doors and a multitude of differently sized windows. The glazing keeps the interior unusually well-lit and bright during the day. Most of the windows are operable to bring fresh air inside.
The main entrance opens into the open-plan living area that wraps around a large kitchen island. The main communal space is perfect for entertaining, gathering, and slow mornings. The L-shaped kitchen has plenty of cabinets, modern appliances, and the island doubles as a dining bar.
Next to the kitchen is the living room, which can fit a couch, a coffee table, and an entertainment unit opposite the couch. You can access the bathroom from the living room. It is one of the most spacious bathrooms we have seen in tiny homes. It has a large glass-enclosed shower cabin, a vanity sink, a washer-dryer unit, a toilet, and a cabinet.
Outside, a hallway leads to the sleeping stations. The hallway is lit with vertical windows. A stairway leads to the loft bedrooms, connected by standing-height walkways. While the lofts are not completely closed off, they maintain a semblance of privacy thanks to the stairway walls separating the two spaces.
Both the lofts have queen-size beds placed on raised platforms. One of the lofts has a small closet, while the other fits in a giant wardrobe. The low ceiling in here may be a deterrent to some; however, a handful of windows keep the space well-lit and airy. These bedrooms can serve as kids’ bedrooms or guest rooms.

Downstairs, at the end of the hall, is the full-height master bedroom. Closed off behind a pocket door, the bedroom features a king-size bed and has a full-size wardrobe. The bedroom has a second entrance, pouring in light and air inside.
This three-bedroom tiny house is perfect for a family to begin their downsizing journey. The pricing for the Soma tiny house begins at AUD 204,990 (roughly $145,200). Removed Tiny Homes offers a multitude of customization, of course, at an additional cost.
