My desk is a complete mess. My wallet sits in one corner, chargers in another, my phone rests on top of my laptop, and sticky notes are scattered everywhere. As for my earbuds, I kid you not, I spend a good ten minutes hunting for them, only to find them buried under a pile of USB cables or lost somewhere behind the desk. The problems are plenty, and answers are few, but one solution that promises to make the desk tidy and organized is the Grid Desk Organizer by Orbitkey, which I spotted on Kickstarter.
Currently up for crowdfunding, the Grid Desk Organizer is a storage tray you can set up however it works best for you. It’s already caught the attention of outlets like Forbes and Gear Patrol, with the former stating “has a permanent place on your desk”, and the latter claiming it to “change the way you work for good”.
The reason it’s getting so much praise and wide coverage across media is that Orbitkey has a history of launching a dozen Kickstarter campaigns, equally praised by backers and critics alike. This brings trust among the crowdfunding community that the product is worth backing and won’t be a fraudulent campaign.
Moving on, the concept behind the Orbitkey Grid Desk Organizer is straightforward. It’s a base tray with a grid of small holes and dividers that snap into those holes in whatever arrangement you need. It’s great for keeping tech accessories, stationery, everyday essentials, or bedside items within arm’s reach.
Many would argue that there are hundreds of such options available on Amazon or an e-commerce store. True that, but most of these desk organizers have fixed sections that your stuff either fits into or doesn’t. The Grid flips that idea, letting you move the dividers around your things rather than the other way around. Long dividers run the full length of the tray, while shorter ones slot in sideways. The whole setup lifts out easily whenever you want to start fresh.
The organizer is built in layers. This includes a main tray, a smaller tray underneath for tiny items, and a lid on top that can also hold loose items like a regular tray. Getting to the bottom layer is easy, as the top tray slides forward in one smooth motion. The lid’s handle also detaches and turns into a phone stand, a small but thoughtful detail.

Inside, a soft rubber lining keeps your items scratch-free. Silicone feet on the bottom stop the tray from sliding around on your desk and help muffle any accidental knocks. The Grid comes in three color options: Black, Stone, and Terracotta, and is available in both standard and mini sizes.
The Standard version includes a lid, two trays, three long dividers, and four short dividers, and is priced at $42. The Mini can be added on for $26, or bundled with the Standard for $64. A bigger bundle with two Standard units and two Minis is available for $110. Shipping is expected in September 2026.
