If you don’t want to spend your hard-earned money on cat scratchers, try making one by yourself. The Instructable user GettingRad has shared a simple tutorial, which might help you get enough inspiration for the DIY project. The DIYer has used old unused cardboard and scrap wood slats to create the cat scratching pad. It is a cheap cat furniture piece that anyone with basic woodworking skills can make easily.

This cat scratching pad is super easy-to-make – one just needs to bundle up a bunch of sheets of cardboard together with a square wooden frame. If you have large cardboard packaging boxes at home, they are just perfect for the job. You just need to cut them into same-size pieces and stack into the frame.

The DIYer has made bumps on either side of the cat scratching pad, which not only pleases cats but also improves the look. If you like the idea, check out the Instructable for complete information.
