The LightCamp concept by Rotterdam-based Company Vantrack is one of the coolest Kia PV5 conversions we have seen to date. In some previous builds, Vanlab created removable camper kits for flexibility, while Sussex Campervans has done a complete conversion for maximum convenience for camping enthusiasts. Working on a hybrid approach, this camper van concept combines features of both so you can keep the original passenger van functions, while having the flexibility to transform it into camper mode.

Vantrack has kept the factory seating configuration of the PV5 Passenger Essential intact and tucked the camper kit behind that area. The modular camp kitchen, storage boxes, and other equipment are engineered to slide into the trunk area directly behind the second-row bench seat, leaving enough legroom for the passengers when traveling.

To set up the bed, you fold the Kia PV5’s rear seatbacks forward until they lie virtually flat. Then combine two Exped Luxemat inflatable sleeping pads over the extended platform to create a 130 x 190 cm (51 x 74.8 inches) wide bed. After use, these pads can be deflated and rolled up into a compact size for storage under the sleeping platform, freeing up space to store extra gear.

The Lightcamp concept also includes a portable Cook Station featuring an induction cooktop with modular storage units for indoor and outdoor use. You can also spot a worktop and a sink in the initial van pictures, which shows it includes all the basic cooking amenities. The website also lists a portable 18-liter compressor coolbox and a portable 11-liter water system with an integrated tap.

This camper build also includes a permanent modification of a rooftop tent developed by Vantrack in collaboration with ZELT studio. The key element of this setup is a multifunctional panoramic roof window that not only provides additional natural light and ventilation, but also increases standing height in the living area. The skylight also offers direct access to the roof tent, providing a sleeping area of 200 × 130 cm (51 x 79 inches).

There are also several storage-focused features including cargo rails, a slim cargo slide for euro crates, and a 195-liter rear cargo rack with storage bags and dividers. Other features include a layered awning for outdoor living and a special Camp Mode that keeps climate control and power supply running even when the van is parked.

Vantrack has listed this Kia PV5 camper build at a starting price of €65,000 (roughly $74,000), which is comparatively lower than some previous builds. This project is still in the development phase, so you have to wait to know more about how features have actually been integrated into the interior space. New Altas notes that the production-ready Lightcamp van will be revealed in September.
