Halloween is approaching in high spirits and people have already started preparations for the festivity, have you? The ritual of kids going door to door in fancy costumes, asking for candies is adorable and fun. You can choose to hand out candies in different ways, and if you want to do it in Halloween-themed candy holders, here is a nifty DIY project for you to try.

Made by DIYer Chelsey of The Paper Mama, the Venus flytrap pumpkin candy holder hung in the patio or the entrance would be a cool induction in the neighborhood.

Things you’ll need to make this carnivorous candy container include a foam pumpkin, hot knife, some paints for the pumpkin, hot glue, wreath hanger, ribbon, some fake flowers with thick stems, and a wooden tag. Here’s how to go about making it:

  • Draw the mouth with teeth on the pumpkin and using a hot knife cut it out
  • Then paint the pumpkin. Take some green paints and create a color texture of the vegetable on the foam pumpkin. Dye the inside of the mouth with pink or red paint and color the teeth white
  • Grab the fake flowers, remove them along with the leaves from the stem. Paint the leaves in a similar tint as the pumpkin. Attach the base of the stem using hot glue to the stem area of the pumpkin
  • Paint the wooden tag with “Feed me” scribbled on it. To personalize the creation, you can choose to write anything in theme with the festival. Fasten the tag to the stem with a ribbon
  • Cut a small rectangle in the back of the pumpkin and fix the hanger in it holding it in place

Tada! Your flytrap pumpkin candy holder is ready to serve.

Put some candies in it and hang it wherever you want inside or outside the house. If you don’t want to hang it, don’t use the hanger. You can now choose to place it where it suits you. Now, wait to see who dares to pull out a treat.
