“Be tiny, be happy” is the philosophy of the French company, La Tiny House. The company’s philosophy deeply reverberates in the tiny houses it builds, encouraging a nomadic lifestyle and quieter living. This single-story tiny house is not an exception. It’s designed for Christophe, who wanted a cozy and serene retreat in contrast with his job as an activities coordinator in a holiday village.

He chose a peaceful haven, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the holidaymakers. The tiny house fulfills the requirements and provides him with a space to retreat at the end of the day.

The single-story tiny house measures 22 feet long. Its exterior flaunts a Douglas fir and fir, and is waterproofed with UV-resistant rainscreen and hygrovariable vapor barrier. The red cedar and corrugated aluminum sheets cladding adds visual interest.

For external storage, a small box at the rear comes in handy. Another highlighting aspect of this tiny house is a spacious porch made from Douglas fir, fully enclosed with a polycarbonate canopy. The profile is enhanced by sloping gables on either side.

Although the tiny house is made for one person without a mezzanine and with a single bedroom, it still houses up to four people with additional bunk beds in the living room for when Christophe’s friends visit. The heart of the tiny house is the kitchen. It is cute, simple, with a no-nonsense design.

Despite the compactness, the kitchen is well-furnished with a countertop, some shelves and cabinets, and modern appliances. Next to the kitchen, there’s a cozy and minimal dining table with two chairs. A TV is also there for entertainment.

The living room is adjacent to the kitchen. As we aforementioned, the living room doubles as a hosting space and an additional sleeping quarter with two bunk beds to house and entertain Christophe’s guests. When not in use, the upper bunk can be folded up, making the space look more open and spacious. The windows, on the other hand, keep the living room light-filled.

Then comes the bathroom. It is fitted with basic bathroom amenities like a shower, toilet, vanity sink, and water heater. There’s also a dedicated workspace for Christophe to bring his ideas to life.

Next is the bedroom, which is located at the far end of the main room, accommodating a comfy bed and windows, keeping the natural light flowing in. The bedroom also has an elongated floating shelf for stacking belongings. This relaxing and fairly practical single-story tiny house of Christophe is priced at €58,000 (roughly $68,100).
