Samsung’s Big CES Announcement is a Fridge That Lets You Scroll Tik Tok

Samsung welcomes you to a futuristic kitchen where you don’t need to pen or plan what groceries to buy because ‘Samsung Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus‘ does that for you. The fridge is at your service tracking groceries to stock up as and when they run out in the fridge.

Keeping tabs on your staples here is the Amazon Your Essentials service, which is embedded in Samsung’s latest fridge, allows it to keep track of and order frequently purchased items using a massive touchscreen display onboard.

However, don’t confuse the Family Hub Plus to be a novel concept. It is an expansion of the Samsung Smart Things Home Line-up, which the company launched in 2016. Since then, the South Korean company has made multiple upgrades and is all set to launch the new refrigerator with an array of features.

Apart from Amazon Your Essentials service, the major talking point of the fridge is an integrated 32-inch display. We have seen Samsung’s refrigerator boast a 21.5-inch screen in the past but the 32-inch touchscreen display is ready to mark its presence at the upcoming CES 2023.

If you are a Samsung fanboy or a geek you shouldn’t be pondering what to do with a display that big. If you are a teenager or a wannabe influencer, the display on the fridge even accedes you to scroll through Instagram reels, YouTube Shorts, or watch content over Tik-Tok. The vertically-oriented touchscreen also displays Google Photos (and I assume you can even set a wallpaper too.)

The display has picture-in-picture mode, which lets you scroll through videos and work simultaneously. Samsung has also added Samsung TV Plus to the list of services the refrigerator offers, giving the user access to 190 TV channels for free.

Apart from viewing videos, and ordering stuff (as aforementioned), the Family Hub Plus also features a built-in SmartThings hub that let you control SmartThings devices. The fridge supports six SmartThings Home Life services namely Air Care, Home Care, Pet Care, Clothing Care, Energy, and Cooking.

What more do you expect from a company that literally lets you view stuff on a refrigerator, even though it might be useless? I won’t be surprised if they plan to add a screen to toilets soon, because I literally spend more time in the washroom than in front of a refrigerator. There is no word on the price or availability yet and more details would be clear at CES only.
