Baluchon is known for unveiling a new tiny home within a month. Well, that’s what the France-based tiny house firm had been doing for a year or so. When 50 days had passed since they launched the Mirasol tiny house without hinting at a new design, I was a bit concerned. Over the years, I have noticed a pattern where a halt in new releases from tiny home manufacturers often signals potential closure. It happened with Mitchcraft Tiny Homes, Build Tiny, and Acorn Tiny Homes and I assumed Baluchon had met a similar fate, until yesterday when they finally dropped the Midgard tiny house on wheels.

The charming tiny house is nestled in the garden of Jean-Louis and Cathy who commissioned Baluchon to design the house for their son William. The 19.6 feet long home offers the perfect blend of privacy and proximity to family life.

Based on a double-axle trailer, the mobile home is distinguished by its unique architectural features. The Midgard tiny house boasts a frame highlighted by dual ridges that add character to its compact structure. This tiny abode is finished in red cedar cladding with an anti-UV saturator complemented by standing seam aluminum trays for roof coverage. The maker has used cotton, linen, and hemp for floors, walls, and ceiling insulation, respectively. Temperature control is managed by intermittent electric heating while double-gazing windows allow light and air inside.

Every inch of space inside is thoughtfully utilized to maximize comfort and functionality. The interior paneling has raw white spruce and natural planed spruce, creating a soothing atmosphere that blends seamlessly with the ash and spruce furnishings. The interior features a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and loft bedroom.

The living area integrates a storage unit, convertible sofa, and a desk, complemented by a mini mezzanine for additional storage needs. Adjacent is the L-shaped kitchen, which is fully equipped with De Dietrich appliances including the likes of an electric water heater, refrigerator, oven, and hotplates. A folding dining table provides seating for two, fostering dining experiences for couples.

Unlike other Baluchon houses, the bathroom within Midgard tiny house is surprisingly spacious. It not only features a dry toilet but also a separate shavings compartment. Not to mention, a shower, and ample storage options including a column unit and hand basin.

The tiny home sleeps two in the main-floor area, while a couple can be adjusted in the main bedroom accessed via a ladder. The loft bedroom features a double bed and a headboard unit.
