Jude, a female full-time traveler, who has spent years living on the road in campervans recently completed her own tiny house truck. She came up with the idea of her own home on wheels after facing the limitations and problems with mobile homes designed by others. One thing she always found lacking in standard campers was a highly insulated structure that maintains warmth and coziness inside.
For the project, she commissioned New Zealand-based Le Workshop who have built a tiny house measuring 6.4 meters long and 2.4 meters wide for her. This tiny living unit is mounted on the back of a brand-new truck, which according to Jude keeps her tension-free about the maintenance.
The exterior of the tiny house is wood-paneled and complemented with grey trim matching the front of the truck. A big picture window at the rear gives it a cool appearance. The entry is through scissor stairs that can be folded during travel.
Inside, there are light-colored walls contrasted with rustic wood flooring. There is a cozy sitting area towards the rear end of the truck in front of the picture window. This keeps her always connected to the outdoors and also turns into her bedroom at night. She has also included a wood-burning fireplace to keep the interiors warm. There is even an additional bed that retracts from the ceiling to accommodate guests.
The kitchen lies in the center of the tiny house truck and is equipped with features needed to cook on the go. There is also a bathroom with a separate shower and toilet. The way storage is integrated is very inspiring – the tiny house truck even has a pantry and a closet for clothes.
For energy requirements, the tiny house truck has solar panels on the roof and a battery system that can even be charged through the engine. She has also kept an option to plug the tiny house to the main grid. The self-containment tanks, including the fresh water tank, are also integrated into the trailer, which makes the tiny house truck perfect for off-the-grid living.
Jude has customized her tiny house truck according to her requirement. It includes all the necessary facilities and features she would require for a comfortable life on the road. She explores some of the most remote and beautiful parts of New Zealand in this off-the-grid, tiny mobile home.
