To be honest, I am kinda late to the news, but better late than never, especially when it’s about something this interesting. The news is about the Chinese electronics company Xiaomi, which has expanded its smart home lineup, with a product called Mijia Smart Electric Blanket.

Currently, the subject of a crowdfunding campaign on Xiaomi’s Youpin platform in China, the smart bedding device allegedly fights mites. Yes, you read that right. The 70.9-inch-long and 31.5-inch-wide (single-person) blanket includes high-heat mite removal and dehumidification modes to keep your bed fresh and hygienic. Other safety features, as noted by Gizmo China, include an “eight-layer protection system and 3C certification” that ensure safe and reliable performance with minimal radiation exposure.

From a material standpoint, the blanket features a soft polyester surface with hidden 80W heating wires that offer warmth. Xiaomi says “its triple insulation system ensures even heat distribution while preventing any electrical hazards.” It is meant to be placed over the mattress as an extra layer providing warmth.

Nevertheless, the bedding accessory comes with its smart control system. Users can adjust the blanket settings manually via the included controller or through the Mijia app for remote access. Additionally, one can also schedule timers, adjust temperature zones, and activate mite removal mode for hygiene care. All these features combined help users get a good night’s sleep. Backers can pledge $25 (approx) to get the Xiaomi Mijia Smart Electric Blanket, with shipments set to begin on October 24.
