The Italian brand Teckell is well known for its high-end gaming tables with a classy touch of tempered glass and steel. Their latest creation Effetto 71, a ping pong table with transparent crystal top, follows suit. Being made from a glass-like material, it seems fragile at first glance but actually is solid enough to bounce the ball smoothly for a fluid rally. When not playing a game, it can be transformed into a living room table.

Designed by Adriano Design, the ping pong table boasts sculptural legs in American walnut supported by a large transparent top that can ensure smoother gameplay. The V-shaped legs represent the ball’s trajectory and remind of the lines often seen in the 1950s and ’60s Italian design. Similarly, the crystal top lends a classy, contemporary and minimalistic flair to this indoor gaming furniture.

Effetto 71 ping pong table honors the bouncing characteristic of the ball on the table which is important for players. On top of this, it also remembers the historic 1971 table tennis match between the United States and China, which helped bridge the gap between the two nations.

The Effetto 71 truly demonstrates the sophistication and ingenuity of Italian design and craftsmanship. You can expect to see the ping pong table during the 2023 Milan furniture fair.

Can we see video of somebody playing ping pong on this table? I can’t imagine how it wouldn’t be problematic.

Beside the problem of not being able to see the surface, and beside the problem of being distracted by everything you see through the surface, especially the legs, you would get reflective glare from the ceiling lights.

Also, V-shaped legs wouldn’t represent the ball’s bouncing trajectory, which would be segments of parabolas.
