Sometimes I want to pack my bags, drive to the countryside and work on a novel. I can simply imagine writing to my heart’s content all day long, while a blueberry pie and hot coffee keep me company. If you are someone like me, I bet you’d love to live in a tiny house on wheels that is perfect to do just that. Dubbed the Writers Retreat, this rustic compact dwelling by Tennessee-based Handcrafted Movement is precisely designed for writers.

The Writers Retreat tiny home is built on a 26’ x 8.5’ triple axle Iron Eagle trailer and allows the writers absolute freedom to roam around; park in their favorite spot and draw inspiration as they work on their manuscripts. The exquisite interior is filled with plenty of rough-edged furniture, two lofts, a living room, and a full kitchen.

The exterior features board and batten, cedar accent details, and a cedar awning and deck system. Writers Retreat Tiny Home has a sleeping loft in the front of the house with stairs, a storage loft in the back with a ladder, a living room with a fireplace and convertible sofa, and a mini split air conditioning and heating.

The structure has extensively used reclaimed Oregon Walnut throughout complementing solid bamboo hardwood flooring and a rustic barn wood finish. An electric fireplace is placed along a thermostat next to a nook with a shoe cubby, coat hooks, and umbrella storage. There is a built-in work desk, a coordinating chair, and a built-in storage closet with hanging rods and lighting.

I particularly love this spot by the window. I can simply work on my laptop, place a typewriter there and click-clack my way through the day, or sip coffee while enjoying a good book.

The kitchen is fully stocked to allow writers to cook whatever they wish to eat while they cook up their stories. It features reclaimed solid walnut-oak countertops, a full-size 4-burner LP range with a warming drawer, a multi-speed kitchen exterior vented hood fan, and a built-in walnut dining seat with a leather cushion. A farmhouse-style apron front sink, integrated pull-out drawer for garbage and recycling receptacles, and large 2-door energy-efficient refrigerator with automated defrost make life on the road much easier.

The Writers Retreat features two lofts: a 70 sq. ft. main loft for sleeping, and a 24 sq. ft. mini storage loft with ladder access. The living room sofa can also be transformed into a bed to sleep two.

There is LED bath lighting, an exterior vented wall fan, a fiberglass shower stall, an energy-efficient elongated toilet, a vanity sink and cabinets, and two open shelves.

Well, I don’t know about you, but this Writers Retreat tiny house on wheels is already up on my bucket list. Think about the possibilities: You can park the compact abode facing vast moors to write like the Bronte sisters or next to a Ton to pen down like Austen.

Listening to her grandmother weaving nighttime tales to penning down her own thoughts, Priya developed a penchant for stories and their origin early in her childhood. Soon she began getting lost in the world of paintings and books. After her master's in literature, she started writing copiously on diverse topics including architecture, interior design trends, and home improvement while learning the ropes of copyediting. Reading novels, painting, and baking are her favorites on her long list of hobbies. She also loves to travel, meet new people, learn about different cultures, and listen to stories.
