Texas-based tiny house manufacturer Platinum Cottages has designed the Cardinal tiny house, and it is up for grabs through RRC Athens, a Park Model dealer in Texas. Packing a gourmet kitchen, a spacious living room, and two bedrooms (one with a walk-in closet), the Cardinal is one of the more spacious tiny homes we’ve covered that still falls under the 400-square-foot category.
Interestingly, the tiny house measures 32 feet in length. This includes 26 feet of main layout, with 6 feet dedicated to an optional porch. The tiny house falls under the Park Model category courtesy of its extra width. At 15 feet wide, the extra width makes it possible to have a spacious kitchen, bathroom, main-floor bedroom, and a loft bedroom.
Similar to other builds by Platinum Cottages, the Cardinal tiny house features a modern, durable exterior built with waterproof, fire-resistant James Hardie siding in a board-and-batten pattern, topped with a black metal roof. It also includes a six-foot front porch with eco-friendly composite decking and black rebar railings. Interior access to the Cardinal tiny house is gained through a front door equipped with built-in blinds-in-the-glass for easy light and privacy control. This entryway connects the covered front porch directly to the primary living room space. The home features an expansive window package designed to maximize natural light.
Visitors first step into the open living room and kitchen. It isn’t furnished yet, but it features a fireplace that acts as an aesthetic piece, sitting beneath a large picture window topped by non-opening transom windows that create an open, high-ceiling feel.
Just ahead is the kitchen, which, similar to the Austin tiny house we recently covered, includes a kitchen island for casual dining and extra storage. The kitchen is outfitted with overhead and undercounter cabinets, a double-door refrigerator, a microwave, an oven, and a sink.

A gallery leads to the bathroom, which is equipped with a vanity, shower, toilet, and plenty of storage cubbies. The tiny house has two bedrooms. The main floor bedroom sleeps two and has a walk-in closet tucked into the corner. Akin to a traditional tiny house on wheels, the Cardinal also has a loft bedroom, accessed via the living room, that comfortably sleeps a couple. In total, the tiny house can sleep four to five people.
There’s no word yet on the price of the tiny house, but RRC Athens says it depends on a customization list that includes size, exterior colors, furniture, appliances, extra rooms or bathrooms, the optional porch, and even a fireplace if you want one. That said, we expect it to cost well above $120,000.
